SUGAR-SHACKING IN QUEBEC

SUGAR-SHACKING IN QUEBEC

Indulge in one of the most popular, and definitely the sweetest, of all Quebec traditions: a trip to the sugar shack! Signalling the forthcoming arrival of spring, sugaring off is synonymous with traditional music and dancing, comforting meals of eggs, ham, bacon, pork rinds, baked beans, pancakes and sugar pie, and of course, loads and loads of maple syrup. Need more convincing? Most sugar shacks offer a variety of activities on site that can include horse-drawn carriage rides, guided tours and interpretation activities, or hiking or snowshoeing in the forest. Establishments range from small family businesses to huge shacks that can accommodate large groups. Enjoy the celebration of maple syrup until the middle of April.
